New House Farm Wedding Photography // Lucy and Chris
Natural Wedding Photography
Lucy and Chris’ New House Farm wedding photography in Lorton was, without doubt, one of the best weddings I photographed in 2015. It’s a long old journey from Manchester to Lorton in Cumbria, over two and a half hours up the M6 and then across Cumbria on some winding and challenging roads. However, the drive was well worth it when I arrived at New House Farm, a charming venue in the Cumbrian countryside. Lucy was busy having her hair and make up done in the cottage at the farm and I was delighted to see Katie Tweedale on hair duty. I’ve worked alongside Katie for Laura and Nathan’s Victoria Baths wedding in 2013 and earlier in 2015 at Julia and Alex’s wedding at Merewood Country House in Windermere. It’s always nice to see a friendly face!
Whilst the ladies were getting ready I popped over to see Chris and his best men putting the final touches to the decorations in the barn. What an amazing job they had done too along with Lucy and her family. The barn looked amazing (as you can see below) and Chris was very relaxed, laughing and joking with his best men and the guests as they arrived. Lucy was proudly walked up the aisle by her father for the marriage service which looked amazing in the barn. As soon as the ‘I do’s’ were done Lucy and Chris were showered in confetti outside the barn.
Wedding Photography at New House Farm
With some menacing clouds over the hills we got the couple photos done quickly and I love the shot of Lucy and Chris with the dark, moody skies behind them. We timed the photos just right as we walked back to the reception the rain started. As we got back it was obvious that this was going to be a cracking wedding, with the guests in full on party mode. The booze was flowing, selfie sticks were flying around and everyone was up for it. The speeches were amazing and the party atmosphere carried on throughout with plenty of heckling and gags, mainly at Chris’ expense I must say. His two best men did a brilliant job of embarrassing him with one of the best speeches I’d heard in 2015.
After the wedding breakfast we had the bouquet throw (which doesn’t happen as often as you’d think) and I tried to get a different angle which worked quite well, before the first dance and the party kicked on to a new level. The guests were having an amazing time and I’m assured the partying got even crazier as the night wore on! It was my first time as a New House Farm Lorton wedding photographer and I loved working at such a welcoming and charming venue with a brilliant couple and their fantastic guests.
