Documentary Wedding Photographer James Tracey

Hi, I’m James and I’m lucky enough to be an award winning professional wedding photographer. I love my job documenting the best day of a couple’s life and I’ve been fortunate enough to photograph over 250 weddings. My style of photography is ideal if you’re like me and you’re not a fan of posing and smiling for photographs. I photograph a wedding day naturally as it happens. Couples who book me want to enjoy their wedding day with their friends and family whilst I work to capture the real story of your day.

I got married to my amazing wife Laura back in 2012 and I’m now dad to our gorgeous little girls Ana and Jaime. We live up in the Saddleworth hills close to Manchester. I loved my own wedding day and want every one of my couples to enjoy their day as much as we enjoyed our own.

I’ve been a regional finalist in the 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018 Wedding Industry Awards in the Best Wedding Photographer category. My photos have been published nationally in Bride Magazine and The Daily Telegraph and I’ve had one of my photos as the cover on Photography Week. You can also see my work in the leading wedding blogs such as Brides Up North, Rock ‘n’ Roll Bride and The English Wedding Blog.

My Style of Wedding Photography

I believe you should spend your wedding with your friends and family and love every single minute of the day. II’m married myself and I know how quickly the day goes by and how amazing it is. What you don’t need is a photographer dragging you away from your friends and family to then have you stood around for hours taking posed formal photos. My style is the complete opposite and you definitely won’t find me monopolising your wedding day.

My clients book me for my documentary wedding photography because I work quietly in the background to cover the day without you even knowing I was there for most of the time. That way I capture the true story of the day, the laughs, tears, tension and high fives. I want my images to be your day as it happened, with my job to quietly observe and capture the best bits.

As you’re looking the best you’ve ever looked , we will take a short time out to capture some relaxed, natural couple photos, but these will only be lightly directed and be all about both of you enjoying some time together, away from the hectic wedding, which I think creates the most natural couple photos. If you’re worried about your couple photos, don’t be. I make the couple photos fun, take them quickly and don’t have you doing anything awkward or cheesy. You’ll quickly see that we just have a laugh and there’s very little posing involved.

I publish every wedding I shoot on my Wedding Blog, so head over and you will get to see my style and how I shoot a full wedding, then get in touch and we’ll chat informally about your day and what you want from your wedding photography.  It’s all about you and your day and I guarantee that I’ll deliver photos that you’ll simply love.

If I sound like the documentary wedding photographer for you and you’d like to find out more, please head over to my contact page.
