Beach Blanket Babylon Wedding Photography // Amy and Jonny
Beach Blanket Babylon Wedding Photography
Last September I went to London to shoot Emily and Adam’s brilliant wedding in Islington, so I was delighted when Amy and Jonny emailed me to ask if I was free to shoot their Beach Blanket Babylon wedding photography back down in the smoke. Amy and Jonny were guests at Emily and Adam’s wedding and I’d spoken to them briefly whilst grabbing some documentary shots. Amy and Jonny lived in Hong Kong and were in the middle of planning to move to New York, so they decided to drop their wedding in between the move here in the UK. With only six months planning, Amy organised everything via email, including booking me! That’s quite some feat when you consider she was juggling working alongside organising moving their life to the USA!
So once again I boarded an early Virgin Train from Manchester to Euston and then hopped in a black cab to Notting Hill and the Portobello Hotel for the bridal prep. A gorgeous boutique hotel in London’s most sought after post code and we had the best room in the building as Amy was staying in the master suite (and very nice it was too). Once prep was done it was a short trip to Chelsea Registry office for the wedding service. Amy and Jonny are in good company as Chelsea registry office has been the venue for many a celebrity wedding. After the service we all took a short walk to Cheyne Walk Brasserie where the guests were treated to afternoon tea whilst Amy and Jonny had their couple photos by the Thames. A red London bus was then waiting to take all of us on a tour of London’s iconic sights and I must admit I was probably the most excited person on the bus as we passed the Houses of Commons, Big Ben, Downing Street and The London Eye. I’m such a sucker for a sight seeing trip, especially when it falls around sunset. London looked amazing in the glorious orange glow!
The reception was held back in Notting Hill at the interestingly named Beach Blanket Babylon, which is actually a very cool bar and restaurant just off Portobello Road. Before the speeches and the dinner, Amy and Jonny headed back out for a handful of shots in the Portobello Road markets as the sun finally set over London before they spent the night partying hard at Beach Blanket Babylon until the very early hours.
So here’s Amy and Jonny’s Beach Blanket Babylon wedding photography. Music by Kleerup, photos by me…
