Heaton House Farm Wedding Photography // Lucy and Andy
Wedding at Heaton House Farm
Shooting a wedding at Heaton House Farm had been on my wish list for quite a while so I could finally chalk it off when Lucy and Andy booked me to shoot their Heaton House Farm wedding photography in May this year. Their day started with bridal preparation at Lucy’s home where I got to work alongside Gemma Lucas who weaved her make up magic on Lucy during a lively morning getting ready (the bubbles were most certainly in full flow) with Lucy and her bridesmaids. To help me out, I had Daniel Lloyd along to shoot Andy’s preparation over at Shrigley Hall Hotel, where the lads got ready nice and early and made the most of their spare time by popping down to the local for a couple of pints.
It was a funny old day for the weather, with glorious sunshine accompanied by quick, heavy downpours at St Christophers in Pott Shrigley before the wedding service (the groomsmen did a cracking job sweeping the water away for the guests). Dan and I were allowed free reign to shoot the service without restriction and there were plenty of smiles (and perhaps a tear or two eh Andy?) when Lucy arrived in her stunning dress from 7th Heaven Bridal. After a lovely service Lucy and Andy made their way through the lychgate to a a huge confetti explosion. With Lucy being a southerner it was fitting a London Routemaster bus was awaiting the guests to take them onto their wedding reception at Heaton House Farm.
Don’t Tell The Bride
Heaton House Farm is situated close to Macclesfield and is a superb venue for a wedding. They’ve been Regional winners for Best Northwest Wedding Venue 2014 at the Wedding Industry Awards and they’ve also starred on BBC’s Don’t Tell The Bride (just like me when I shot Holly and Anthony’s wedding in 2012). It’s a proper working farm that doubles up as a wedding venue and it is a brilliant place to get married, with amazing opportunities for wedding photography all over the farm. With a crack team on hand, the day went by perfectly and we managed to grab some fantastic couple photos as the sun (which eventually beat the rain) got lower later in the evening, with the iconic Heaton House Farm tree featuring in a few of the shots too!
Once again, my first dance shot was made a lot easier as Lucy and Andy had light up love letters from my friends at The Word Is Love. Ollie from The Word Is Love had challenged me to get a ‘wow’ shot of their letters and I managed to get a few that I was pretty pleased with. It appears I met the challenge too as one of my images is The Word Is Love’s Facebook cover photo!
Lucy and Andy were a brilliant couple to work with and I loved shooting their Heaton House Farm wedding photography. I’m back at Heaton House Farm next year and I can’t wait to return to one of the best venue’s I’ve worked at. If you’re getting married there, get in touch below as I’d love to hear from you.
