Cragwood Country House Wedding

Yesterday I headed up to the beautiful Lake District to photograph Becca and Ben’s Cragwood Country House wedding photography. This was my first time at Cragwood as a wedding photographer (I’d been there as a guest a few years ago). Cragwood Country House is the sister venue to Merewood Country House. I’ve shot at Merewood a couple of times and it was almost a year to the day since my last visit for Becky and Colin’s Merewood wedding. It’s always a pleasure to shoot in the Lake District, no matter what the weather, the scenery is spectacular. The weather was the least of my worries for Becca and Ben’s wedding though with another beautiful summers day.

Cragwood Wedding Service

Bridal preparation was in the honeymoon suite with Becca and her bridesmaids. It was a pleasure to work alongside Brian from Safe Harbour Productions. Brian was filming the day alongside myself and he was an absolute gent to work with. Once Becca was in her dress and her father had seen her for the first time, we headed down to the service room at Cragwood to meet up with Ben. Ben was super relaxed, enjoying a laugh and joke with the guests, but he couldn’t hold in the tears as Becca walked down the staircase and up the aisle. It was a lovely moment. I always love seeing a groom show how he really feels.

Emotional Wedding Speeches

Becca and Ben enjoyed drinks on the terrace outside Cragwood Country House before their speeches and wedding breakfast. During Ben’s speech he talked about how much he valued his friendship with his best man. His best man then broke down and I captured one of my favourite photos from the day. Capturing the emotion and those real moments are what makes me tick as a wedding photographer. After the wedding breakfast I waited until a little later for the couple photos. The sun was a little lower as we made our way to the shores of Lake Windermere, which created a much more romantic look to Becca and Ben’s couple photos. Before we knew it, it was the first dance and Becca and Ben kicked off their evening reception.

I had a wonderful day shooting Becca and Ben’s Cragwood Country House wedding photography. I’m lucky enough to be travelling back up to the Lakes in a couple of weeks for two more Lake District weddings and I cannot wait to return to Cragwood Country House soon.
