This was one wedding I was very excited about. This was my first time shooting wedding photography at Ripley Castle and it’s a fantastic venue for a wedding. The Castle is a couple of miles north of Harrogate and is set in stunning grounds that make it almost impossible to get a bad shot. In early May I made my way up there for Mary and Jon’s big day.
Mary and Jon are both from South Yorkshire and were born and raised just 15 miles apart. However, they never knew each other as kids and as fate would have it, the both moved to London after University to start their careers. One night they both went to a Hot Chip gig at the Brixton Acadamy where they met and the rest, as they say, is history. However, there was only one place they were getting married, back home in Yorkshire.
Ripley Castle is a fantastic venue, it’s a Grade I listed 14th century country house which is stunning inside and out. It’s a dream venue for wedding photography and I had to rein myself in as I could happily have taken the couple shots for a few hours instead of my normal 20 minutes! Luckily there was a little extra time before the first dance so I stole Mary and Jon for another short session of couple shots later in the day. To say I’m pretty pleased with what we got is a bit of an understatement.
You can see more of my Ripley Castle photography when I returned in February 2014 to when I was Lindsay and Ian’s Ripley Castle wedding photographer.
So here’s their story. Music by Two Door Cinema Club, photos by me…
