Crikey! It’s already December and the time of year that all wedding photographers start to share their ‘best of’ wedding photos. I’ve not finished shooting weddings this year, with one left between Christmas and New Year at Eaves Hall, but as we run up to Christmas I’ve decided that rather than a ‘best of’, I’d just share one photo from each wedding I have shot this year. No reason behind each one other than it’s a shot I like. As always, I am drawn to the natural, real moments of a wedding, with the majority of the photos I have chosen being true documentary shots. But there are a few posed couple photos in there too. I enjoy this part of the wedding day and it’s nice to share a proper mix of the photos I take on a wedding day.

A Brilliant Year

It’s been another brilliant year. For the third year in a row I have shot 49 weddings, travelled the country, taken in new venues and headed back to some of my old favourites, shot in every type of weather imaginable and I’ve drunk more cups of Yorkshire Tea than I think is probably safe for human consumption. I started the year shooting Nikon and ended 2017 shooting mainly on a new Sony A9 (which is amazing). Colshaw Hall and Eaves Hall went toe to toe for my most popular venue with Eaves Hall edging it 7 weddings to 6 (however, I love both venues equally!)

The Best Wedding Suppliers

I again had the absolute pleasure of working alongside some of the very best wedding suppliers in the country, from make up artists, florists, event teams and videographers to the best live music acts in the business, it’s been an absolute pleasure to see the incredible talent in the wedding industry in action every week. I can’t wait to see you all again in 2018. I was also delighted to be a finalist in The Wedding Industry Awards 2018 where I was in the company of some of the best wedding photographers in the world. The North West really is a hot-bed of supreme wedding photography talent. It’s fantastic that I can now call many of these photographers good friends and it’s brilliant to be in an industry where my ‘rivals’ are so generous with their time and experience. Thank you all for your critique, advice and help (and for a good game of footy every now and again!)

Thank You

On a personal level, 2017 was a bit of a significant one. I turned the big four-zero (I know, I don’t look a day over 21 ;o), we bought our big grown up house in the sticks and most importantly of all, we added Jaime Sofia to our little family in October, meaning I am now well outnumbered 3-1 by the ladies in our household.

I say every year, I wouldn’t get to do such an amazing job without my brilliant couples. I am so happy you chose me to shoot your wedding day and I’m equally delighted with the lovely feedback you’ve given me this year. So as always, a huge thank you goes out to you guys. 2018 is shaping up to be another brilliant year and there are plans afoot to add something new and very exciting into my work, more to be revealed in 2018!

So here the images are, in the order I took them, from January to December. As always, let me know what you think in the comments below…

    Hi there,
I love your work! Photos are gorgeous! We are getting married on 30 June 2018 at Sledmere House, Sledmere and wondered if you are available to photograph and if so could we discuss further?
    Many thanks
