Upper House in Hayfield, Derbyshire is an absolutely stunning wedding venue. Set back from the picturesque village of Hayfield, hidden up a long winding private road, Upper House is a beautiful, hidden gem that offers a wedding like no other. Upper House Hayfield is an exclusive use wedding venue and features stunning period features, luxurious accommodation, a tipi styled covered courtyard and a stunning main hall which will make you feel like you’ve stepped back hundreds of years. Maintained beautifully, it is an incredible room for a truly unique wedding. I was very excited to shoot my first ever Upper House Hayfield wedding photography for Sophie and Mike in August.

James Wray Wedding Films

Sophie and Mike’s wedding was great as I got to work with outstanding wedding film maker James Wray and leading florist Sian Wild from The Flower Lounge. I always enjoy working with James Wray, his style is very discreet and his films are beautiful. I would always recommend booking a wedding film, they compliment your photos beautifully and it’s something to show future generations. Spectacular Sunsets

Upper House has stunning views from the terrace in front of the house. It’s a fantastic space for you to hold your wedding drinks reception overlooking Kinder Reservoir and Upper House benefits from some of the most spectacular sunsets I have witnessed at a wedding venue and the sun drops behind Kinder Reservoir. This creates the perfect light for some stunning wedding photos with a dramatic backdrop. Sophie and Mike were treated to a simply stunning sunset. With only a few minutes available to us after the speeches both James Wray and myself worked perfectly to get the images and film we needed as the sun dropped behind the hills over Kinder. It was a beautiful sunset, with the contract between the warm glow of the sun and the deep blue of the clouds creating some striking couple photos.

The catering was provided by Vanilla In All Seasons who provided outstanding food all day long. I was lucky to sample their food during the wedding breakfast, so my recommendation comes with personal experience. Sophie and Mike’s wedding was a wonderful celebration all day so it was fitting that the night was completed with live music from the fantastic Groovy Revolution. The band were amazing and performed the first dance before going into one of their signature medlies. The dancefloor was absolutely bouncing and as I left the party was going to go on late into the night.
