I knew Olly and Ally’s wedding at The Ashes Wedding Barn was going to be a fantastic day. How did I know, well I’d been fortunate enough to photography Ally’s brother Kenny’s wedding to Richard in 2015 and that was a brilliant wedding, so it came as no surprise to be right, Olly and Ally’s day was fantastic. This was my first time shooting a wedding at The Ashes Wedding Barn in Staffordshire. It’s a great venue, set in acres of private land, with a lake, beautiful buildings and separate spaces to get ready, for the wedding service, wedding breakfast and more outdoor space than you can possibly ever need, it’s a wonderful venue and it’s even better when the weather is on side, which it was for Olly and Ally’s wedding day (eventually anyway).
Natural Light in the Wedding Barn
Olly got ready in the The Dressing Room at The Ashes with her friends and family as Alli arrived to greet the guests. Olly’s parents saw her in the dress for the first time (cue huge hugs and a couple of tears) before Olly made the walk up the aisle to Ally. The Wedding Barn has beautiful light at The Ashes and Olly and Alli’s service created many wonderful moments, all in the stunning natural light that floods into the wedding barn.
Warm Spring Weather
Confetti and a short session of group photos followed the wedding service before the guests enjoyed canapes and drinks in the warm spring weather. Olly and Ally then made the most of the stunning setting at The Ashes for their couple photos, spending twenty minutes in the gardens together as we shot some lightly directed couple photos. It was then back to the reception for more drinks before the wedding breakfast. The speeches followed leading up to the cake cut and the first dance. It was a pleasure to shoot Olly and Ally’s The Ashes Barn wedding photography and I cannot wait to return next year to create my first wedding film at The Ashes Barn.
