Marquee Wedding

There’s something special about a wedding in a marquee. I can’t put my finger on it, but whenever I photograph a wedding in a marquee it’s always a brilliant day. Laura and Chris booked me to shoot their Plough Inn Hathersage wedding photography in The Peak District where Laura was born and raised, which meant that we weren’t struggling for some spectacular scenery. I made my way down the Snake Pass to Laura’s parents near Sheffield for the bridal preparation where I met up with a very excited bunch of ladies who were having their make up expertly applied by Rosie Powers. As the Moet flowed (quite early on too) it was obvious this was going to be a lively wedding!

Once the ladies were suitably beautified and ready I went over to meet Chris at St James’ Church in Sheffield, who was much calmer than most of my grooms awaiting the arrival of his wife to be. Laura soon arrived in her vintage camper van and it wasn’t long before Laura and Chris were being showered in confetti before we set off for their reception at The Plough Inn in Hathersage. Laura and Chris wanted the Peak District to feature in their couple photographs, so we stopped on the way to Hathersage and grabbed some quick couple photos, including the one at the top of the page, which I absolutely love with Laura and Chris absolutely nailing wedding cool!

Tom Rocks and The Replicants

We arrived at The Plough Inn and grabbed a few photos with the camper vans before Laura and Chris enjoyed the afternoon with their guests whilst they were entertained by Lauren Moreau playing the harp. The marquee looked amazing, styled by Laura it looked beautiful and I loved the vintage ladder table plan. The speeches were hilarious and emotional in equal measure before my favourite wedding band, Tom Rocks and The Replicants, arrived. I knew it was going to go off when I over heard the reaction of the guests to the sound check (everyone was super impressed) and I wasn’t wrong. In fact, this was the craziest dance floor I’ve been on for a long time as even I got lifted up onto the ushers shoulders after the first dance! I wasn’t the only one as Tom from the band was hoisted up onto the groomsmen during Mr Brightside as the wedding party went off big time. Honestly, I say this a lot, you’ve got to book Tom Rocks and The Replicants for your wedding, they absolutely kill it every time and make your evening reception the best party you can possibly imagine!

So here’s Laura and Chris’s Plough Inn Hathersage wedding photography. Music by Little Children, photos by me…
