Lake District Wedding Photography

I was delighted to shoot Rachel and Scott’s Lake District wedding photography in September at the beautiful Broadoaks Country House Hotel. I’d been lucky enough to have worked in the Lake District a few times in 2015 including Julia and Alex’s Merewood Country House wedding and Mia and Pete’s wedding at The Samling. With Mrs T on maternity leave we decided to make a week of it in Ambleside when I photographed Scott and Rachel’s Lake District wedding photography, something that I’ll definitely do again as Ambleside is a cracking place to get away from it all for a week!

It was just a short 5 minute drive from Ambleside to Broadoaks Country House Hotel and this was my first visit to Broadoaks and it’s a beautiful wedding venue. It’s an intimate venue with beautiful gardens and a wonderful, welcoming feel. I can highly recommend Broadoaks if you’re considering a Lake District wedding and I’m already looking forward to heading back later this year!

Hazaar of London

Now, Rachel knows the wedding industry very well as she designs her own range of wedding dresses and naturally she was wearing one of her own designs. Rachel isn’t the only talented creative though as Scott had showcased his skills with the table centres, bronze Star Wars figures. I’m a bit of a Star Wars geek (yes, I LOVE the new film) so I took a lot of photos of the characters of which each table was named after!

Now I love weddings in the Lake District but all that greenery does come at a price and the weather can be a bit wet at times. Rachel and Scott’s wedding day was no exception with glorious sunshine and flash showers taking it in turns after the wedding service. If you look at the clouds in the background of the confetti photo you can see how close we were to getting drenched despite the sunshine. But sometimes a combination of sun and rain can deliver something special, and as the sun set over Lake Windermere a light shower started whilst Rachel and Scott braved the rain so we could get a really cool shot which you can see at the top of the blog post. I was pretty pleased with that photograph!

Rachel and Scott had a brilliant, relaxed and fun filled wedding and I loved shooting their Lake District wedding photography.
