Ilkey Golf Club Wedding Photography
Jennie and Rich used their family connections to pull off a unique wedding at Ilkley Golf Club. With Rich’s mum calling in a few favours, Jennie and Rich were able to have a marquee on the practice course for their wedding making their wedding reception the only wedding to have taken place out on the golf course! I’ve shot weddings at golf courses before (see Anna and Tom’s Mottram Hall wedding photography) but this was the first wedding where we had to avoid the golf balls flying around us as we were right in the middle of the action. Of course, with it being mid June, the U.K. weather provided perfect summer weather of, errr, rain.
Marquee Wedding Reception
After getting ready at home, Jennie headed over to church in Ilkey for the marriage service. Fortunately the rain held off long enough for the confetti before the short journey over to Ilkley Golf Club. With heavy rain forecast Jennie and Rich made the most of the dry spell for the couple photos before heading inside the marquee to chat with their guests. There’s always a fantastic atmosphere in a rainy marquee wedding reception. British wedding guests always seem to focus on the positives when it rains (the positives being plenty of free booze) and with everyone crammed inside the atmosphere is always fantastic. The same happened last summer when I shot Nicola and Tom’s wedding at The Citedal, so it’s safe to say I am pretty experienced at wet marquee wedding receptions.
Jennie and Rich had a fanastic day surrounded by their closest friends and family and I loved shooting their Ilkley Golf Club wedding photography. If you’re worried about rain on your wedding day, have a look at the photos below. Even with a bit of the wet stuff, there are loads of great wedding photo opportunities, especially if the booze is flowing ;o)
