Unposed Moments

I don't take you away from your wedding day, 95% of the time you will be with your friends and family, and if you want we'll do a short session of group and couple photos but no more than 10-15 minutes.

Unique Images

Every wedding is different and I don't stage or interfere through the day, I want to capture the unique story of your wedding as it happens. I want you to have a truly unique set of images that tell your wedding story.

Meet James...

Yorkshire Tea addict, pizza lover, Formula One nerd, 80’s movie geek.

My Mastermind specialist subject would be The Sopranos. I can usually be found planning a holiday to somewhere that has featured in a movie.

I’m husband to my beautiful wife Laura and dad to my two young girls Ana and Jaime. 

13 years ago I quit my full time job and started photographing weddings. In that time I’ve shot over 500 weddings as a photographer and wedding filmmaker  (you can see my award winning wedding films over at James Tracey Films) and I still can’t quite believe I get to call this my full time job.

Our Marriage Story

Holiday Romance

I met Laura in Malia in Crete  whilst I was on holiday. Malia is of course where The Inbetweeners movie is set.

The Proposal

I asked Laura to marry me over afternoon tea in 2011 at The Plaza in New York, the hotel Kevin stays at in Home Alone 2.

Our Wedding

We got married in 2012, our first dance song was Against All Odds by Phil Collins which was written for the movie of the same name (although I’ve never seen it).

So, What Is Documentary Photography?

Documentary, reportage, natural photography. They all all mean the same thing. It’s the real moments that happen during your wedding day, I don’t stage anything, I don’t set things up, I observe, wait and capture the real emotion, the laughter, the hugs, the (happy) tears, all whilst you spend the majority of your day with your friends and family. If details, posed photos and groups shots are your thing, I’m not the photographer for you. My style is all about capturing the real story of your wedding day, as they happen, when you look back on your wedding photos you’ll see real moments that evoke real memories. 

Do You Do Couple Photos?

Whilst the vast majority of your day will be shot as it happens, if you want, I will take you off for 15 minutes of very lightly directed couple photos. There’s no awkward posing, no cheesy photos popping out from behind a tree, just the two of you enjoying a little break from the party and actually getting to hang out together (which, ironically, is quite hard to do on your wedding day!)

And What About Group Shots?

I know how important family and friends are at your wedding and if you want some group photos then I can arrange these quickly and easily so we can capture the important people, grandparents, parents, your siblings and bridal party, all within 10 minutes. After all, your nan will want a nice photo for the fireplace!

What Time Do You Start?

I start around 2 hours before your wedding ceremony. I find it helps to break the ice by capturing some of the morning preparations and it helps tell a more complete story of the day. I then shoot throughout the day, usually doing the couple photos after your drinks reception as your guests are heading into the meal or if we get great light, in the early evening before the party kicks off before I finish after your first dance. 

When Do We Get Our Photos?

You’ll get a teaser selection from your day within 24 hours of your wedding, with your full gallery of over 350 photos delivered within 6 weeks. You’ll receive edited, high resolution digital images that you can print, share and upload without restriction. Oh and I’m fully insured and I have spare cameras and lenses, so nothing will be missed on your wedding day!

What can I say about James? Wow, that's what! From making us feel totally at ease to making sure we got beautiful, touching and fun shots on the day, in the minimum time possible, he's a really great wedding photographer. I would recommend him without hesitation.
