Vicky and Joel’s Holdsworth House Wedding Photography
I was very pleased to be booked to shoot Vicky and Joel’s Holdsworth House wedding photography as I know it’s a fantastic venue in Yorkshire having been a guest at a wedding back in 2011. Vicky and Joel’s wedding was also a winner for me as it meant a trip back to my home-town of Mirfield for the morning bridal preparation and the church service on the best day of the year, Yorkshire Day! In fact Vicky and Joel had a Yorkshire Day wedding theme and if you know me, you’ll know I very much approved of that!
I once again teamed up with Daniel Lloyd who was second shooting with me and the day started off well with plenty of laughter and champagne during the hair and make up at Vicky’s mums house. It even looked like the weather was going to go against the forecast and be a dry day, so Dan and I made the quick trip to St John The Evangelist church in Hopton, Mirfield for the marriage service. I’ve shot a here a couple of times and it’s a lovely little church, that pushes the limits on my no flash rule, but creates a lovely cosy atmosphere for a wedding. As soon as we’d shot Vicky and Joel walking through the confetti the heavens opened and it absolutely hammered it down as we made our way up to Holdsworth House.
Yorkshire Day Wedding
Most of the guests had already arrived and as Dan and I waited for Vicky and Joel to get out of the car as the rain got even worse. In the end, we grabbed some brollies and with huge smiles, Vicky and Joel ran into Holdsworth House and I got my favourite shot of the day. It just shows that even in the worst weather you can get some cracking photos! Fortunately the weather did sort itself out as the reception took place. The wedding breakfast featured tables named after famous Yorkshire sayings with a Yorkshire ‘snap bag’ featuring teacakes (not bread cakes, barms or muffins as Lancastrians wrongly call them!), pork pies and local Yorkshire ham!
After the wedding breakfast Vicky and Joel joined me outside (in the sun, what a crazy weather day it was!) for some natural wedding photos whilst their guests enjoyed the stunning gardens at Holdsworth House. The night entertainment was provided by The Gillan Edger Band who had the place absolutely bouncing long into the night. After all that fun it was back to Lancashire for me although I did celebrate Yorkshire day with a cup of Yorkshire tea as I put my feet up! It was a cracking day and I loved shooting Vicky and Joel’s wedding at Holdsworth House. Once again big thanks to Dan for helping me out and if you’d like to see more of my wedding photography at Holdsworth House, check out Jen and Nik’s Halifax wedding photography here.
