Wedding at Hiltop Country House
Essex meets Manchester with an American minister, The Grand National and JLS. Katy and Darren booked me as their Hilltop Country House wedding photographer and their day was brilliant.
Katy and Darren met each other through Facebook when Darren was living the wide boy lifestyle down in Essex (according to his best man!) It didn’t take him long to make the move up north to Manchester (good lad) and it wasn’t long before he popped the question in Paris. Shortly afterwards Katy got in touch to ask me to be their Hilltop Country House wedding photographer.
They chose a cracking venue in Prestbury, The Hilltop Country House where my day started with the bridal prep along with a very relaxed group of bridesmaids and LOTS of Bottles of Veuve Clicquot. It got lively! Selfies dominated the bridal prep and I managed to get one of my favourite photos of the day with a group selfie before Katy left for the church. A quick drive behind the white taxi’s from I Do Taxi led me to the beautiful Dean Row Chapel where the super relaxed Minister Jeff Gould let me do my thing and capture the entire marriage service. I hope it’s not too long before I’m back at his wonderful church.
Natural wedding photographer
We did a handful of natural, couple shots at the Church before returning to Hilltop for the Grand National. Katy and Darren had bought every guest (and me) a bet, which added a lot more interest in the race. My horse was even leading for a while before predictably falling at a jump. Thanks to the National we had a tight turnaround before the meal but u detered we managed to get the some informal couple shots in before the speeches kicked off in the marquee.
Hilltop is a lovely venue with beautiful grounds, cracking staff who were ‘on it’ all day long and a great bar with a huge range of drinks and speciality cocktails! I can highly recommend the venue. Katy and Darren’s first dance was an upbeat affair to JLS which fitted in perfectly as thier whole day was a really upbeat, fun filled affair. When the time came for me to head home, the party was definitely in full swing.
Darren and Katy headed off for a mini-moon in Barcelona, but before they left I got this message from Darren, somewhat appropraitely, on my Facebook page…
“James. My wife and I had a better than perfect wedding day!! We want to say a huge thank you!! You are truly fantastic!!! You helped make the day as special as it was with a lot of laughter along the way!! We can’t praise you enough. Thank you!!”
I loved being Katy and Darren’s Hilltop Country House wedding photographer and here’s their day, photos by me, music by Foals…
