I like the Lake District. That’s probably the most obvious thing I’ve ever written. I mean, who doesn’t like the Lake District? Naturally I was delighted to be asked by Ellie and Mark to be their Coppermines wedding photographer. The Coppermines Lake and Cottages are in Coniston, set back from the lake in an old copper mine (I’m guessing you probably worked that out!) With stunning views from the cottages it’s a dramatic place for a wedding reception and another one of those places where it’s hard to take a bad photo.

When we arrived at Coppermines the weather started to go against us, but Ellie and Mark were cracking and just braved the fine rain (you know, the type that soaks you right through) to grab the couple shots. Sometimes a moody sky can add real drama to the couple photos, especially if the views are as stunning as they are in the Lakes, so I wasn’t too upset that the sun decided not to join the party!
As we’d not had chance to get a confetti shot (thanks to the weather) I decided to try something different. With the reception inside a marquee I thought why not do the confetti in the first dance? So we did and it worked! Coppermines shared the photo on their Facebook page and said… “A fantastic moment captured from inside the marquee at The Coppermines yesterday. One of the best inside shots we have ever seen.” So that made me smile (the shot is the final one below!) I loved being Ellie and Mark’s Coppermines wedding photographer. So here’s Ellie and Mark’s day. Music by Haim. Photos by me…
