Ibiza Wedding Photographer

I could not wait to be Stevie and James’ Ibiza Wedding Photographer. Back in 2014 I shot Vicky and Matt’s wedding at Elixir Shore Club and I could not wait to return to one of the coolest venues in Ibiza. It’s always amazing when any couple books me for their destination wedding. I love travelling and it is a fantastic when a couple choose to fly me out to another country to shoot their wedding. It’s even more amazing when they book me without having met or even spoken to me. The first time I met Stevie and James was when I turned up at their villa for a BBQ the night before their wedding. Unsurprisingly Stevie and James were very relaxed when I did meet them and I had a great time chatting to their friends and family in the beautiful Ibiza sun.

Wedding at Elixir Shore Club

The following day I met up with Stevie for the bridal preparation before we set off to Elixir Shore Club. I love weddings at Elixir Shore Club. It is a beautiful venue, set up from a small beach in Cala Codolor with stunning views. The team at Elixir Shore Club are fantastic too. Una, the owner, even remembered me despite it being over two years since my last wedding there. It’s a brilliant venue for a wedding in Ibiza and I can highly recommend Elixir Shore Club.

The Lovely Laura

Stevie and James had a wonderful, personal service, officiated by one of their friends before their reception over looking the Mediterranean sea. We then sneaked away for 20 minutes, as the sun set over the beach, for their couple photos before we returned for the meal and brilliant speeches. For their first dance, Stevie and James had a suprise as they had booked The Lovely Laura to play Sax over their DJ set. Laura is a world famous sax player who has performed at all of the biggest clubs in Ibiza. She’s also performed for D&G, MTV and has supported Take That! Needless to say, Stevie and James’ party was absolutely awesome.

So here’s Stevie and James’ Ibiza wedding photography. Music by Moby, photos by me…

Central Park Wedding Photographer New York // Anna and Andy

A Wedding In New York

Mrs T, “What’s the dream?” Me, “A wedding in New York.” That short conversation between Mrs T and I happened after I had just handed my notice in and I’d started my new career as a wedding photographer. I love (and I mean LOVE) New York City, I’d proposed to Laura over afternoon tea at The Plaza on 5th Avenue back in 2011, so the city will always be a special place and as a child who grew up in the 80’s it seemed like every movie from my childhood was filmed there. I’ve always loved New York, but honestly, I never thought I’d get to shoot a wedding there, so that was it, my dream wedding would be in New York City. In all honesty I knew it was something that probably would never happen but that’s the point of having a dream isn’t it? Well, I thought it would never happen until Anna and Andy got in touch.

Anna and Andy had a plan, and what a plan, they were sneaking off to New York to get married in secret in Central Park along with a tiny handful of family guests. The cover story was they were going on holiday in France and would announce that they were actually married the day after their Central Park wedding on Facebook. The best bit was they wanted to take me along to be their Central Park wedding photographer, shoot the wedding and then head off around the city to spend the day photographing couple photos all over Manhattan. The dream was coming true!

Ladies Pavillion

Mrs T and Ana joined me on the 7 hour flight to the States and we spent a couple of days wandering around the city working out the best spots for photos and timing the day in advance before I met up with Anna and Andy at Giraffe Hotel for the morning preparations. They broke with tradition and got ready together before we hailed a yellow cab for the short trip to Central Park. I don’t think I’ve ever been so excited heading to a wedding service. At Central Park I was joined by my dad (by total coincidence on holiday in NYC) who had offered to be my ‘bag man’ for the day and we made our way into the Park for the wedding service at Ladies Pavillion over looking the lake in Central Park. The Reverend Annie Lawrence officiated and did a beautiful, personalised service that really made the Central Park wedding that little bit extra special (I cannot recommend Annie enough if you’re getting married in NYC). After a handful of formal photos with Anna’s family it was time to head out into the city.

Grand Central Terminal New York

Andy hailed a cab and within minutes we were stood bang in the middle of ‘the crossroads of the world’ in Times Square. I can’t lie, I could have exploded with excitement, here we were, stood in one of the most iconic and famous places in the world and I was shooting a wedding! From there we walked to The Rockerfella Center and up to The Top Of The Rock. The staff at The Top Of The Rock were amazing, sweeping us past the queues and treating Anna and Andy as true VIP’s. Next was Grand Central Terminal. Anna loves the building and had asked for something a bit ‘wow’, so I sent them off into the concourse with a brief to kiss on my signal. From there I had the idea to use a slow shutter speed to blur the other commuters yet keep Anna and Andy razor sharp in the centre of the frame. New York is a city that never stops and I wanted that to come across in the photo. Even if I do say so myself it took a little skill, patience and good luck along with a good 2o minutes but I think it was worth it…

Greenwich Village

A spot of lunch in the Malt House in Greenwich Village followed with a few photos inside the very cool bar before we walked along Bleeker Street (fans of the TV Show Friends will be familiar with ‘Bleeker’) and grabbing a shot with an NYPD cruiser before we headed up the Avenue of The America’s for a cool shot in the middle of the road with the One World Trade Center in the backdrop. From there we went into the Meatpacking District before finishing up on The High Line, a disused raised railway line that has been converted into an amazing outdoor walkway and public park. All in all, we’d been on our feet for 6 hours yet we all loved every minute of it. New York is a city I will never ever get enough of and New Yorkers were amazing, with well wishers congratulating Anna and Andy at every opportunity.

Anna and Andy then joined their family for a steak dinner and they even took me along to say thank you (which they really didn’t need to do) and it was AMAZING! Unable to hail a taxi I walked back to my hotel and took in New York by night. Walking past the lit up Empire State Building I had to stop and pinch myself that this had really happened. I’ll never be able to thank Anna and Andy enough for taking me with them as their Central Park wedding photographer. It was the dream and they made it come true, so Anna and Andy, the biggest, most heartfelt thank you.

Once back at my hotel I edited a selection of images and emailed them to Anna and at around 1pm the following day as Mrs T, Ana and I walked up 5th Avenue on our way to a celebratory Afternoon Tea at The Plaza Hotel,  Anna broke the news on Facebook that they’d secretly got married in New York and shared the pictures. They’d done it, no one had any idea and people were equally shocked and delighted at the news.

With that, the dream wedding had come true and I’d spent one of the most exhilarating days of my life walking around the greatest city on earth photographing an amazing couple on the best day of their lives.

So, enough from me, here’s Anna and Andy’s Central Park wedding photography with music almost as cool as the day itself by COLLEAGUES and photos by me…

Wedding Photograph Of The Week // Bride Magazine

wedding photo

I’m delighted to have one of my wedding photographs chosen as Bride Magazine’s Wedding Photograph of the Week. Bride Magazine is one of the leading wedding publications in the UK, with regional magazines showcasing the best wedding suppliers and venues for prospective couples. The magazine runs a weekly competition for the best wedding images in the country and today my image from Anna and Andy’s wedding in New York City was chosen as this week’s winner.

The photograph, shot in Grand Central Terminal in the heart of New York City, is one of my (if not all time) favourite wedding photograph. The full blog is coming very soon about Anna and Andy’s amazing wedding over in the U.S.A. in the meantime this shot was the one that Anna really wanted from their couple photos in the city. She loves architecture and in particular Grand Central Terminal, so I decided to create something special that featured Anna and Andy but placed them in the hustle and bustle of Grand Central. It took a few takes to get everything as I wanted it but the final image is even better than I could possibly have hoped for and everyone who has seen it agrees it’s a great wedding photograph. I’m pretty proud of this shot and I’m delighted it has won Wedding Photograph of the Week.

Bride Magazine will now be featuring the image on their site and it is now the header photo for all of their regional Facebook pages for the next week! You can read The Bride Magazine article (with a few words from me) here!

This isn’t the first time I’ve featured in Bride, I’ve had a 3 page feature in both their 2014 and 2015 editions showcasing a couple of my weddings, so I’m delighted to be back involved as the winning Wedding Photograph of the Week! 2014 // The Best Bits…

So that was 2014. Another incredible year as a Manchester wedding photographer. I’ve shot 46 weddings, all different, all unique, all amazing. I’ve travelled over 7143 miles to Scotland, North Wales, Yorkshire, The Lake District, Northumberland, London and Ibiza. The Nikon’s have fired their way through 64438 photos. I’ve worked in castle’s, country houses, a working metal works, boutique hotels, a swimming pool, on a bowling alley, on the beach, country pubs, town halls, tipis and on Concorde. Every wedding has been different and I’ve been so lucky to have worked with relaxed, creative, and most importantly, fun couples throughout 2014. Without you guys I wouldn’t get to do what I love and I can’t thank you all enough for asking me to tag along on your day. It’s you guys who make me look good!

I’m already excited about 2015, I’ll be back at some of my favourite venues, taking in a bunch of new and exciting places all over the UK and there may even be a trip abroad for something very exciting

It’s been tough to choose the best bits of 2014, but after much deliberation, here’s a hand picked selection of my favourite wedding photos. I hope you like them too!

Elixir Ibiza Wedding Photography // Vicky and Matt

Elixir Ibiza Wedding Photography

Sometimes I can’t believe how lucky I am in my job. Being booked to shoot Vicky and Matt’s Elixir Ibiza wedding photography was definitely one of those moments. I’d met Vicky and Matt when I shot Debbie and Karl’s wedding at The Saddleworth Hotel in 2013. At the time Vicky was thinking of heading off abroad for a destination wedding and she asked if I traveled (which I emphatically said yes to!) A few months later Vicky and Matt had found their dream venue and had set their hearts on Ibiza and Elixir Shore Club. So I booked a Jet2 flight and in the middle of August flew out to the White aisle for my first ever Elixir Ibiza wedding photography job!

Wedding in Ibiza

Vicky was getting ready in Cala Llonga so I met her there for the bridal prep before sharing her taxi over to Cala Codolar to Elixir Shore Club. What a venue. A shabby chic paradise, set high on the cliffs over a small beach, Elixir is something else. Vicky was walked down the aisle by her brother before Matt and Vicky shared their wedding blessing in front of the stunning views of the sea. With glorious sun shining down it was one of the those moments where I had to remember I was actually working. A totally amazing service finished and the open bar started (so I knew it was going to be an amazing wedding). Although it did get a little hot (even the staff said it was a little warmer than usual, peaking at just over 40 degrees), everyone soaked up the sun and prosecco before I took the wedding party down to the beach for the group shots. Vicky and Matt didn’t want anything boring or stuffy, so we set the lads up to look cool and the girls to have fun. I LOVE the group shots, easily some of my favourite I’ve taken.

Ibiza Sunset

I was then invited to eat with the wedding party and I can hand on heart say this was the best wedding food I’ve ever eaten. A barbecue to beat all barbecue’s. It’s worth having your wedding at Elixir Shore Club for the food alone it’s that good. Then, as the sun started to set I grabbed Vicky and Matt and we went back down to the beach to get the classic Ibiza sunset in the couple shots. It was a spectacular experience and I think the shots do the sunset justice, before we headed back to the speeches and a huge party (which I get thoroughly involved with when the Nikon’s were packed away!)

Without doubt, the coolest wedding of the year and one of the highlights of my wedding photography career. Ibiza is a brilliant venue for your wedding blessing and Elixir is one of the best venues I’ve ever worked at. A stunning venue with amazing views and it’s run brilliantly by the team there. I cannot recommend it highly enough and if you are planning on heading out there, I’m more than up for a some more Elixir Ibiza wedding photography.
