Colshaw Hall Wedding Photography

Jess and Phil had their wedding at Colshaw Hall in Over Peover in Cheshire. As I have mentioned before, I always enjoy shooting Colshaw Hall wedding photography. With seven Colshaw Hall weddings in 2017, it’s a venue I will be spending plenty of time in Over Peover this year. Of course, this wasn’t my first wedding at Colshaw Hall this year and you can see more about Lucy and James’ spring wedding at Colshaw Hall here. Colshaw Hall is a fabulous venue that has been improved even more this year with the addition of the Pavilion. A purpose built space for guest to enjoy the wedding reception drinks or even a lovely room for a smaller, more intimate wedding breakfast.

Couple Photos at Colshaw Hall

Jess got ready at Colshaw Hall before taking the golf buggy over to The Stables for her wedding to Phil. Jess and Phil were married in front of their family and friends before being showered with confetti as they walked out of The Stables. Their reception was held in The Pavilion before I borrowed Jess and Phil for the couple photos in the grounds of Colshaw Hall. The grounds are so lovely it makes it really easy to shoot great Colshaw Hall wedding photography!

Wedding First Dance

After the wedding breakfast the speeches were fantastic and even featured an appearance from Jurgen Klopp, the Liverpool manager (well, it was a wedding guest who looked very similar!). Jess and Phil’s evening reception started with their first dance before I made my way home after another fantastic day of Colshaw Hall wedding photography. I always enjoy shooting weddings at Colshaw Hall and again have to say a huge thanks to Shelley, Ian Brown the Toastmaster and the team from Barretts Event Caterers, who all looked after me and kept me well fed. It really is a great team at Colshaw Hall!

So here’s Jess and Phil’s Colshaw Hall wedding photography…

Spring Wedding At Colshaw Hall // Lucy + James

bride seeing groom at their Spring Wedding At Colshaw Hall

Spring Wedding at Colshaw Hall

Lucy and James held their spring wedding at Colshaw Hall. Colshaw Hall is without doubt one of the finest wedding venues in Cheshire and one of the best in the UK. I was delighted to be shooting the first of my seven weddings there in early March. Lucy got ready in the bridal suite within the main house at Colshaw Hall with her bridesmaids. Meanwhile James was with his groomsmen in the kitchen below (where they may have had a cheeky whiskey or two!). When Lucy had finished her preparations and her father had seen her in her wedding dress for the first time it was over to The Stables for the marriage service.

The Stables at Colshaw Hall

A somewhat more nervous looking James was waiting at the top of the aisle in The Stables at Colshaw Hall. Lucy was proudly walked up the aisle by her father. I love the moment between Lucy and James as he saw her in the wedding dress for the first time (above). After Lucy and James saidf their ‘I do’s’, Toastmaster Ian helped arrange the guests for the confetti shot. I love shooting the confetti outside The Stables at Colshaw Hall as I always get a great shot, like the one I got for Tania and Tom which you can see here.

The Peel Suite

After the confetti Lucy, James and their guests made their way over to The Peel Suite and the new Pavillion. I whisked Lucy and James away around the grounds of Colshaw Hall for their couple photos. Once the couple photos were complete everyone went into the Peel Suite for the speeches. The Peel Suite looked amazing and it was enhanced by light up letters from The Word Is Love.

The Rush

The evening entertainment at Lucy and James’ spring wedding at Colshaw Hall were The Rush, one of the best wedding bands in the business. Lead singer Gavin got the dancefloor absolutely bouncing and was out in the crowd to get everyone up for an amazing evening party. The Rush really are top class I can highly recommend them for your wedding at Colshaw Hall.

I must also thank the brilliant team at Colshaw Hall, Shelley, Sarah and Ian, for looking after me and the team at Barretts Event Caterers for once again making sure I was well fed with their absolutely delicious food. So here’s Lucy and James’ spring wedding at Colshaw Hall. Music by Tal Bachman, photos by me…

Sandhole Oak Barn Wedding Photography // Helen and Danny

Sandhole Oak Barn Wedding Photography

Helen and Danny’s Sandhole Oak Barn Wedding Photography saw me return to one of Cheshire’s best wedding venues. Sandhole Oak Barn is a fantastic venue and I was delighted to be back only a few months after shooting Erin and Andy’s wedding in July. with the first being Erin and Andy’s wedding.  Helen got ready at Sandhole Oak Barn and had the services of the multi award winning team at Flossy and Leigh on make up duties. Helen’s bridesmaids were great fun too and the preparation was wonderfully relaxed and light hearted!

Relaxed Couple Photos

Danny was looking very relaxed waiting inside Sandhole Oak Barn before Helen arrived, escorted by her proud father. With smiles, laughter and the odd tear, Helen and Danny’s wedding at Sandhole Oak Barn was wonderful! Once Helen and Danny had walked back down the aisle (whilst being showered with confetti) the reception started and the fizz started to flow. Whilst the reception was in full flow at Sandhole Oak Barn, Helen and Danny joined me for their relaxed couple photos in the grounds of Sandhole Oak Barn. Shooting Helen and Danny really was not a tough job, with the camera loving both of them. Perhaps not entirely surprising as Helen has worked as a model!

The Word Is Love

After the speeches, cake cutting and sparkler photos, it was time for the evening reception and with a strong Irish contingent in the wedding party, it came as no surprise that the reception was great fun. Helen and Danny kicked off the party with their first dance in front of the light up letters from my good friends at The Word Is Love. I’ve shot plenty of weddings where The Word Is Love have provided their fantastic light up letters (including Vicky and Stefano’s Didsbury House Hotel wedding). As a wedding photographer, I love having light up letters to shoot as they added something completely unique to Helen and Danny’s Sandhole Oak Barn wedding photography.

Wedding at Colshaw Hall // Tania and Tom

 confetti at colshaw hall wedding

Wedding at Colshaw Hall

Tania and Tom had their wedding at Colshaw Hall, one of Cheshire’s most exclusive wedding venues. I love weddings at Colshaw Hall and have been lucky enough to have shot quite a few weddings there including Naomi and Tom’s wedding which you can see here. I met up with Tania at her parents home close to Colshaw Hall for the bridal make up. It was great to work alongside Laura Mayers who was on make up duty. Once Tania and her bridesmaids were all set, I made the journey over to Colshaw Hall where the girls were finishing getting ready. Once Tania was in her dress it was over to The Stables to see Tom. It’s safe to say Tom looked a little nervous and with good reason as the Stables was absolutely packed with guests. Also performing were a full choir and harpist to add something even more special to Tania and Tom’s wedding service.

Wonderful Atmosphere

Tania arrived on Colshaw Hall’s golf buggy and made her big entrance. Tom managed to just about hold it together as Tania joined him at the top of the aisle. Their service was fantastic with the choir creating a wonderful atmosphere and with guests encouraged (very enthusiastically) to join in by the choir it was an uplifting a fun marriage service. After a cracker of a confetti photo, Tania and Tom and their guests enjoyed canapes and drinks on the lawn at Colshaw Hall. With the couple photos shot in twenty minutes,Tania and Tom re-joined their guests for the wedding breakfast. The speeches were very funny and ended with Tom being ‘knighted’ by his best man. With the first dance starting off the evening ceremony I left Tania and Tom to enjoy the rest of their wedding at Colshaw Hall.

So here’s Tania and Tom’s wedding at Colshaw Hall. Music by COLLEAGUES, photos by me…

Emily and Chris’ wedding at Colshaw Hall

wedding at colshaw hall

Wedding Photography at Colshaw Hall

Emily and Chris’ wedding at Colshaw Hall back in July saw me return to one of my favourite wedding venues, the stunning Colshaw Hall. I shot my first wedding back in 2014 (Naomi and Tom’s wedding which you can see here) and I couldn’t wait to shoot Emily and Chris’ wedding at Colshaw Hall as it is a top class venue in Cheshire. Helping me out was James Andrew, who was on second shooting duty, so James started the day at Cottons Hotel and Spa with Chris and the lads whilst I met up with Emily at Colshaw Hall.

It was my first time working alongside Matt from Aaron Rose Wedding Films who is a thoroughly top fella. It was great to see Chloe Johnson on make up duties again (we worked together at Lauren and Barry’s wedding at The Midland Hotel). Once the bridal preparation were complete I made the short journey over to the Stables for the marriage ceremony. With a few tears (bit plenty more smiles) it was a lovely emotional service before the guests showered Emily and Chris with confetti.

Gardens of Colshaw Hall

As it was a rare dry day in summer (thankfully) Emily and Chris had their reception in the private garden of Colshaw Hall where their guests enjoyed canapes and drink. Emily and Chris joined me, James and Matt for 20 minutes of couple photos (and video) in the gardens of Colshaw Hall before returning for their big entrance into their wedding breakfast.

Following the wedding breakfast (that tasted awesome, big thanks to Barrett’s Event Caterers for sorting some food for us too) and the speeches, Emily and Chris headed outside to cut the wedding cake before their first dance and evening reception. Great to see John King from The RUSH again and they had the dance floor packed (as always) ! Big thanks as always to Shelley and the team at Colshaw Hall for making me feel so welcome, to James Andrew for his efforts on the day and to Matt for being a proper good laugh to work alongside.

Wedding at Sandhole Oak Barn // Erin and Andy

sandhole oak barn wedding photography

Wedding at Sandhole Oak Barn

Erin and Andy booked me to shoot their wedding at Sandhole Oak Barn in July at one of Cheshire’s leading wedding venues. Sandhole Oak Barn has been on my wish-list of wedding venues for a while and then I took three bookings for 2016, with the first being Erin and Andy’s wedding. Sandhole Oak Barn is a stunning venue in the Cheshire countryside. It’s an exclusive use venue with accommodation, a beautiful service room, extensive grounds and its own private lake!

With Erin and Andy both getting ready at Sandhole Oak Barn, I arrived nice and early to start the day with Erin’s bridal preparation before jumping between Erin and Andy’s rooms to capture the morning excitement. It was lovely to see Sian, from The Flower Lounge in Didsbury, who was adding her special touch to the entrance of the barn. I highly recommend Sian to all my wedding couples, her work is beautiful and she’s a multiple Wedding Industry Award winner too, so definitely check out Sian’s stunning work!

Unplugged Service

Andy and the groomsmen were hard at work putting the finishing touches to the reception room. I loved the sign on the entrance asking for an unplugged service, mainly because I managed to get a name check in the sign and also because unplugged ceremonies mean your guests are truly engaged in the wedding rather than their phone. Once the room was set I went back to see Erin who was in her dress as we did the big reveal to her dad and then it was a short walk to the barn for Erin and Andy’s marriage service. The service room looked beautiful and there was the extra touch of light up letters from The Word Is Love. Andy was slightly nervous as Erin made her way into the barn, but all the nerves quickly disappeared and Erin and Andy had a wonderful, personal wedding at Sandhole Oak Barn.

The Rush

After Erin and Andy were married all the guests made their way outside onto the terrace overlooking the lake as the wedding guests were entertained by brilliant acoustic duo of Gav and John from The Rush. Andy even joined Gav and John to perform one of his favourite Red Hot Chilli Peppers songs! With the wedding guests enjoying the food and drink Erin and Andy sneaked away with me for their couple photos. With just twenty minutes of lightly directed couple photos in the bag, it was back to the barn for the wedding breakfast. Top Table provide the food and they were kind enough to give me the full three courses too and I can heartily recommend their beautiful food. It was absolutely delicious! The speeches followed the meal and then it was onto the evening reception.

Confetti Cannons

For their first dance Erin and Andy had some confetti cannons.  I set up one at either side of Erin and Andy so that one minute into their first dance, the cannons went off and we capture the brilliant photo at the top of the blog. I love creating images like this for my couples, photos with a bit of ‘wow’ factor, that capture the spirit of the day. Erin and Andy were great fun all day long and I was delighted that this shot worked so well for them. Once the first dance was complete, John had teamed up with the rest of The Rush band and they then rocked the dance floor late into the night. It was a tremendous wedding day and I loved every minute shooting Erin and Andy’s wedding at Sandhole Oak Barn. I’m back at Sandhole Oak Barn October and I can’t wait to return!

Knutsford Wedding Photographer

A week after I shot Hayley and Tim’s wedding at The Belle Epoque I was back at the same venue for Jules and Jo’s wedding. The morning was spent in Hale Barns at Jules’ home where I worked alongside one of the video teams from Dave Spink Photography for the bridal preparation. Once Jules’ dad had seen her in her wedding dress we made the very short trip to Holy Angels Catholic Church, literally around the corner for the marriage service. It was a relaxed service where I was allowed free reign within the church to shoot Jules and Jo’s wedding. Once the service was over we made our way outside for the confetti shot and a handful of family formals. Everyone made their way to The Belle Epoque in Knutsford for the reception and just like the Hayley and Tim’s wedding the week before, all the guests were outside on the terrace as we enjoyed another warm summers day!

Natural Couple Photos

As the guests enjoyed their drinks on the terrace I worked quietly in the background to capture everyone enjoying themselves. After the delicious meal (which I was very lucky to enjoy thanks to Jules and Jo) the speeches took place. Jules and Jo then joined me on the streets of Knutsford for some natural couple photos before we returned to the Belle Epoque for the start of the evening reception. Jules and Jo kicked off the party with their first dance. I loved being Jules and Jo’s Knutsford wedding photographer at The Belle Epoque and it was great to be back at one of my favourite wedding venues so soon after my last wedding. I’m already looking forward to heading back to The Belle Epoque soon!

Belle Epoque Wedding Photography // Hayley and Tim

Wedding at The Belle Epoque

Nearly three years passed between the first time I shot a wedding at The Belle Epoque and the next wedding I photographed. In March 2016 I shot Steph and Gary’s intimate wedding then, like buses, two more came along in a week. I shot Hayley and Tim’s Belle Epoque wedding photography in June a week before my third 2016 Belle Epoque wedding a week later. However, I was very much looking forward to returning to one of the most unique wedding venues in Cheshire. The Belle Epoque is a terrific venue for a wedding, intimate and dark, it has its own unique look and feel. It’s also a superb restaurant and haunt of many a celebrity, so it’s easy to see why Hayley and Tim booked their wedding at the Belle Epoque.

Hayley got ready at her house before making her way to The Belle Epoque where Tim was patiently waiting at the top of the aisle. As you’ll see from the photos below, Belle Epoque wedding photography is pretty challenging. The Nikon’s coped admirably though and as soon as Hayley and Tim had said their ‘I do’s’ it was out into the gardens for the wedding reception.

Tom Seals

The guests were entertained by the superb Tom Seals whilst enjoying champagne in the Belle Epoque grounds. Tom Seals is one of the leading jazz pianists in the country and he is astonishingly talented. Performing alongside Tom was Sam Healey on Sax. Sam also perform with leading Manchester wedding band The Rush (who I am working with quite a few times this year) and the combination of the Tom and Sam was amazing. If you’re looking for musicians for your wedding day they check out Tom Seals. Easily one of the most talented musicians I have ever seen perform.

After the reception in the gardens and the wedding breakfast the guests enjoyed the speeches before Hayley and Tim made the most of the low sun over Knutsford as we made our way out for some natural couple photos. Before I knew it, it was time for the first dance at Hayley and Tim’s Belle Epoque wedding. However, it wouldn’t be long before I would be back for some more Belle Epoque wedding photography as I returned a week later to shoot Julia and Jo’s wedding (which is coming to the blog soon!)

So here’s Hayley and Tim’s Belle Epoque wedding photography. Music by COLLEAGUES, photos by me…

Wedding In Knutsford at The Belle Epoque // Steph and Gary

wedding in knutsford at tThe Belle Epoque

A Wedding In Knutsford at The Belle Epoque

Gary and Steph had their wedding in Knutsford at The Belle Epoque which meant I got to shoot again at one of the prettiest venues in Cheshire. The Belle Epoque is in the heart of Knutsford and is a bit of a celebrity favourite with regulars such as Roger Moore and David Beckham! Steph was getting ready at The Belle Epoque and as I walked in I was delighted to see Rebecca Anderton on hair and make up duties. I’d only just been blogging that same day about the last time we worked together at Sally and James’ wedding at Manchester Town Hall in November. Rebecca is a brilliant stylist and make up artist and one I recommend to all my couples, so get her booked in as she is very popular!

Intimate Family Wedding

Steph and Gary wanted an intimate, family wedding without any fuss and they’d personalised their day with a beer theme, so all the tables were named after their favourite tipples and decorated with beer bottles and they’d swapped flowers for bottle tops for the men’s corsages, a brilliant touch I’d never seen before. Adding to the decoration were light up letters from The Word Is Love which were displayed outside the service room, as always adding some ‘wow’ factor to the wedding. Steph told me that she’d booked both Rebecca and The Word Is Love as I recommend them so highly (although their work speaks for itself), but it’s always great to work alongside top class suppliers who go the extra mile to make sure you have an amazing wedding day.

The marriage service took place inside The Belle Epoque, which has some challenging light conditions for the Nikon’s to cope with, but I quite like testing my kit and my own abilities and I think I did a half decent job! After the wedding, Steph and Gary enjoyed some Pimms with their guests before a short walk out into Knutsford for a quick set of couple photos before we returned for the wedding breakfast. Having been treated to a bite to eat I can also agree that the food at The Belle Epoque is top drawer! With Steph and Gary having a quieter day, there wasn’t a first dance to photograph, so I shot the speeches and then ended my day shooting a wedding in Knutsford at The Belle Epoque with Steph and Gary cutting their wedding cake. It was a lovely day and I am very much looking forward to heading back to The Belle Epoque for two more weddings (both within a week) in June this year!

Abbeywood Estate Wedding Photography // Kate and Chris

abbeywood estate wedding photography

Abbeywood Estate Wedding Photography

My final wedding of 2015 was an absolute corker and for Kate and Chris’ Abbeywood Estate wedding photography. It also meant I got to finish the year working alongside my good mate Daniel Lloyd. Kate started the day at her parent’s beautiful home whilst Chris and the lads met up at a local pub for a pint (or two). Shooting video alongside me was the super talented Jo Gendle, who was great fun! The girls were certainly a lively bunch making for a good laugh during the wedding preparations. It all got a bit more serious when Kate popped her wedding dress on. When Ian, her proud father saw her he gave Kate a huge hug. It is one of my favourite photos from Kate and Chris’ Abbeywood Estate wedding photography.

All Saints Church

I met up with Dan at All Saints Church in Daresbury, a church Dan knows well as he got married there himself! After the marriage service I got another favourite shot as Kate signed the wedding register with Chris looking a little unsure behind her. It’s another example of what I am always looking for when shooting wedding photography. Not just the obvious signing the register shot, but a real moment that captures the fun of a wedding.

Reception at Abbeywood Estate

After a brilliant confetti shot outside church, we headed over for the reception at Abbeywood Estate in the Delamere Forest. The weather was going against us so I quickly shot 20 minutes of couple photos before the rain started to bounce down. It’s safe to say my first time shooting Abbeywood Estate wedding photography was not a quiet, boring affair. With a free bar, the guests were having a brilliant time and Dan, Jo and I got plenty of amusing images of the wedding guests making the most of the free drinks. With Kate’s father being a writer his speech was a very funny and emotional. Ian had a lovely story from Kate’s childhood that may have just coincided with some dust getting in my eye ;o)

Tom Rocks and The Replicants

Not to be outdone, the best man performed a simply brilliant speech  as he sang his entire speech. It had the guests going wild and ended with every person standing up to give him an outstanding ovation. After the wedding breakfast there was a break in the rain for the fireworks before the evening reception and first dance. The dance was performed by my great mates Tom Rocks and The Replicants. I’ve worked with the guys a few times in 2015 including Anna and Jon’s wedding at Priory Cottages and Laura and Chris’s wedding at The Plough Inn. Kate and Chris booked them on my recommendation, so it was great to hear Kate say they had blown her away with how amazing they were. Tom Rocks really are the best wedding band in the business. I can promise you, you won’t have anyone leave the dance floor when they are playing.

As the party was well and truly going crazy, I stuck around shooting just that little bit longer than usual. With bridesmaids joining the band, a guest singing Disco 2000 and the whole wedding party loving The Beatles, it was worth the late night drive home.
