Wedding Photography at 30 James Street

Lauren and John booked me to shoot their 30 James Street wedding photography at one of the most iconic buildings in Liverpool city centre. For those not in the know, 30 James Street was formerly known as Albion House and was where the offices of White Star Line, the owners of The Titanic, were based. It was where people bought their tickets for the doomed liner and it’s a very famous landmark in Liverpool. In 2014 the building was re-opened as 30 James Street, an upmarket boutique hotel featuring reclaimed parts from some of White Star Line’s decommissioned ships (and no, the Titanic is not one of them!)

Wedding Photography at 30 James Street is brilliant. It’s a beautiful hotel, retaining all the style of the original building coupled with modern five star luxury. It’s a fantastic wedding venue set across from Pier Head and the iconic Liver Building. I met up with John as he was getting ready alongside his best men and ushers inside 30 James Street. Lauren arrived shortly afterwards and we made our way to the main hotel suite at 30 James Street for Lauren’s bridal preparation.. Lauren finished getting ready in the opulent surroundings with her bridesmaids and daughter Matilda. Once set, we all made our way downstairs to the White Star Grand Hall (the room that used to sell first class tickets for White Star Line’s ships) where John was nervously waiting.

John couldn’t quite hold the emotion in his daughter, Matilda, walked up the aisle (and as a new dad I can completely understand why he wiped a tear or two away). The emotion didn’t stop as Lauren made her entrance into the stunning White Star Grand Hall. It was an absolute pleasure to photograph Lauren and John’s 30 James Street wedding photography as they are one of the happiest couples I have ever worked for. They absolutely adore each other and throughout the marriage service they spent the entire time laughing, holding hands and enjoying every minute of their wedding. Once they had shared their first kiss they walked back down the aisle covered in bubble confetti before we took the lift to the top floor bar for their wedding reception.

Lightly Directed Couple Photos

As the guests hugged Lauren and John I captured the laughter and fun and yes, that is Joe Hart, the Burnley and England goalkeeper. Lauren and John’s wedding speeches were some of the best speeches of 2016 and the speakers all had the guests in fits of laughter, none more so than John’s two best men, who absolutely slaughtered John (who does sound like a bit of a legend if you’re on a night out). After the brilliant speeches Lauren and John headed out onto Pier Head for some lightly directed couple photos before we made our way into the back streets behind 30 James Street. With beautiful golden sunlight illuminating the buildings, Liverpool looked amazing. It was the perfect backdrop for Lauren and John’s 30 James Street wedding photography.
